Jesus Luzardo will start Game 1, other roster decisions

We’re starting to hear a little bit more about the Phillies and who they choose to put on the roster as well as their pitching plans for the Wild Card round. Today, some answers were given to questions that were had.

Opener, starter, whatever you want to call it, Luzardo will be the first one on the mound for the Phillies when they open in Atlanta. How long he goes will remain to be seen. Maybe he goes one inning, maybe he goes five. We’ll see how the plan goes once the game gets underway.

As far as other parts of the roster, Luis Arraez will not be on the roster.

Arraez’s ankle must be really bad in that he can’t even pinch hit during the series. Otto Kemp returns to apparently take up some space and maybe safeguard against any other infield injury that might occur. Remember, Edmundo Sosa was a little lame after Game 162.

We’ll see the full roster given out tomorrow to see if there is any other surprises.
