Jalen Hurts has admitted he cannot make any promises about the Philadelphia Eagles after their season took another difficult turn with a third straight loss.

The Eagles fell 19-17 to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday despite their defence making several key stops. Philadelphia’s offence struggled badly, finishing with just 232 total yards and 22 rushing yards.

The result leaves the Eagles 2-3 after starting the season 2-0. Their latest defeat also marked their second consecutive loss after blowing fourth-quarter leads.

Hurts was asked about his level of concern following the defeat and gave a brutally honest response.

The Eagles quarterback said: “I can’t give any promises on anything. Honestly, my words don’t really mean anything. It’s about what we go out there and do.

“For me, I’m trying my best to figure it out, and we just need to maintain that commitment to figuring it out because obviously we’re a few plays away from being 4-1 here, so got to grow.”

Hurts completed 21 of 40 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown against Jacksonville. He also managed just two rushing yards on two attempts.

Philadelphia entered the game already struggling offensively, ranking in the bottom 10 in total offence, passing, rushing and points.

Injuries have made matters harder too. Saquon Barkley, Tank Bigsby, DeVonta Smith, Hollywood Brown, Landon Dickerson and Drew Kendall were unavailable, while Will Shipley was lost during the game.

The Eagles now have to regroup quickly with the Carolina Panthers next on their schedule. Hurts is likely to remain central to those conversations as Philadelphia looks for answers on an offence that has struggled to produce consistently.

For now, the quarterback is making no promises. His message was simple: the Eagles have to show the improvement on the field rather than talk about it.
