Jaguars' Liam Coen with injury updates on Cole Van Lanen, Travis Hunter

Following Tuesday’s minicamp practice, Jacksonville Jaguars‘ head coach Liam Coen provided a few brief injury updates on a few players.

As was reported by Ryan O’Halloran, the expectation is that running back jaguars-insider-provides-injury-rb-010025257.html">Chris Rodriguez will be ready for training camp. He underwent surgery on his foot after sustaining an injury early in offseason programs.

Van Lanen suffered a knee injury in Week 18 against Tennessee. Van Lanen then did not play in the Jaguars‘ playoff game against Buffalo.

Jacksonville signed Van Lanen to a three-year extension late in the season.

“I know Chris will be a full-go come training camp,” Coen said. “Cole’s a part of that same process. Might be a little bit longer in training camp. We’ll have to see.”

Coen also briefly mentioned Travis Hunter, who continues to rehab from a knee injury that ended his rookie season early.

“Travis, I know he ran 22.6 (mph) this morning outside here. He was talking a lot of smack to Chris Bach and the athletic trainers. He’s worked his tail off. I got to give a lot of credit to our strength staff, athletic training, sports science. They’ve kept it creative for him, the drills, the way that they’re pushing him, challenging him.”

Back in April, GM James Gladstone said that the plan for Hunter was for him to be at “full tick” come training camp.

The Jaguars still plan on Hunter playing both ways, although this season he is expected to see more opportunities on defense than he did as a rookie.

Hunter has been working in the Jaguars’ virtual room this offseason to help him get mental reps at both wideout and cornerback.
