The Israeli military on Thursday announced the elimination of Waheed Abu Salam, identified as a former commander of the Western Company in Khan Yunis.
In a statement posted on X, the Israel Defense Forces, IDF, alleged that Abu Salam infiltrated Israel during the October 7 attack and participated in the abduction of Israeli civilians to Gaza.
The military further claimed that Abu Salam had recently been involved in planning additional attacks, including efforts to restore weapons capabilities intended to target Israeli troops.
“ELIMINATED: Waheed Abu Salam, who previously served as the Commander of the Western Company in Khan Yunis.
“Abu Salam infiltrated Israel during the October 7 Massacre and took part in the abduction of Israeli civilians to Gaza and recently advanced additional attacks, including efforts to rehabilitate weapons intended to harm IDF troops,” the IDF wrote.
There was no immediate response from Palestinian authorities or Hamas.
