Inter-Shakhtar: Riznyk turns focus to San Siro after Kolos win

Shakhtar goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk says his side are preparing for a difficult Champions League meeting with Inter at San Siro on Wednesday 21 October.

According to FCInterNews, Riznyk spoke to UPL.TV after Shakhtar’s domestic victory over Kolos, describing the result as useful preparation for the Milan trip. He said the team had prioritised winning and avoiding concessions, with the Champions League fixture already in view.

The goalkeeper’s comments set out Shakhtar’s immediate focus rather than making a prediction about the match. His message was that the win mattered, but the squad had now shifted its attention to Inter.

Sport.ua’s account of the UPL.TV interview identifies the domestic result as a 2-1 win over Kolos in the ninth round of the Ukrainian Premier League. It also reports Riznyk’s view that Shakhtar controlled the game and deserved the victory.

That account adds that conceding after Shakhtar had taken a two-goal lead did not, in Riznyk’s assessment, alter the team’s performance. He credited the collective effort when asked about the side’s defensive work, rather than claiming individual responsibility for their results.

Riznyk’s remarks followed a win that gave Shakhtar a positive result before the European assignment. The trip to San Siro is the next fixture he identified as a major challenge, with the Ukrainian side now preparing to face Inter.

For the Nerazzurri, the match is an opportunity to test themselves against a Shakhtar side arriving off a domestic victory. Riznyk did not offer further detail on the team’s plans for the contest; his comments focused on the importance of the result and the difficult match ahead.
