On Saturday night, the eyes of the college football world were on Tuscaloosa for the heavyweight matchup between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs.
That matchup went on to deliver as well, as the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs went back-and-forth for all four quarters. Ultimately, it was Georgia though who eventually came away with a close 20-17 win, handing Alabama their first loss of the 2026 season.
Following are a few instant reactions to Alabama’s loss Saturday night in Tuscaloosa against Georgia.
Facing arguably their toughest test yet, the Alabama ground game impressed Saturday night against the Georgia defensive front. The Crimson Tide rushed for 161 yards as a team with an average of 5.6 yards per carry, a group which was led by true freshman Trae’shawn Brown with 90 yards on nine carries.
One of the biggest areas where Alabama struggled Saturday night was defensively on third downs, as well as with big plays allowed, both of which hurt the Crimson Tide on Saturday night. The Crimson Tide defense allowed Georgia to go 7-of-13 on third downs.
Another big storyline Saturday night was Alabama’s inability to capitalize on Georgia’s mistakes. Alongside a Gunner Stockton interception which was overturned, Georgia had four fumbles in the game Saturday night, but all four were recovered by the Bulldogs.
