India will travel to Sri Lanka for two Tests between August 15 and 27 in Galle and Colombo.

Despite the Sinhalese Sports Club recently getting floodlights fitted, neither match will be a day-night affair, with both games starting at the traditional 10 am local time.

No warm-up fixtures have been officially confirmed, though earlier drafts of the tour plan had included a four-day practice game in Colombo. 

India head into this trip on the back of five straight Test victories in Sri Lanka and haven’t dropped a series there in nearly two decades, since 2008.

These matches will be the first WTC games either side has played in Sri Lanka, and both desperately need the points. India sit fifth on the standings after being whitewashed 2-0 by South Africa in their last WTC outing, with four wins, four losses and a draw to their name.

Sri Lanka have it no easier, sitting sixth following a crushing innings defeat to the West Indies just last week.

Jasprit Bumrah should be back against Sri Lanka

India’s 15-man group for the Sri Lanka series is expected to closely mirror the side used against Afghanistan, with Jasprit Bumrah returning to lead the pace attack. The squad features Shubman Gill as captain alongside his deputy KL Rahul.
