India’s Test return to Sri Lanka set for August

India are heading to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series in August as part of their ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 campaign. 

While India’s white-ball form has been outstanding over the past year, including T20 World Cup glory and the ICC Champions Trophy title in 2025, their red-ball performances have told a different story.

The WTC cycle began ordinarily with a 2-2 draw against England, followed by a clean sweep of the West Indies at home.

But a two-match home series against South Africa last November brought a rude awakening, with the defending champions winning both matches convincingly.

India did manage to get a win on the board in Tests this year, beating Afghanistan in a one-off game last month, and they’ll now be hoping to build on that heading into Sri Lanka.

The series opens at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19, before moving to the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo for the second Test, which runs from August 23 to 27.
