The Green Bay Packers are in a tight spot amid concerns about Micah Parsons’ health and running back Josh Jacobs’s legal trouble. The team made the bold move of acquiring Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys last year, but his injury has led many to believe that Jerry Jones won that trade.

Micah Parsons Will Be an Elite ‘Mid-Season Pickup’ When He Returns

After a stunning start to life in Green Bay, Parsons tore his ACL in a Week 15 loss against the Denver Broncos. The pass rusher underwent reconstructive ACL surgery and a minor meniscus cleanup procedure two weeks later and has since been on the comeback trail. He said he is following a nine-month recovery timeline that will keep him out of the start of the 2026 campaign.

NFL analyst Rich Eisen weighed in on talks that Jones ultimately won the Parsons trade in light of the star’s injury setback. The analyst expressed optimism about the five-time Pro Bowler’s long-term future, highlighting the value he’d add upon his return mid-season.

“But Parsons still has a huge career ahead of him,” he said on “The Rich Eisen Show.” “And if the Packers do have a good first half of a season, and if you will stay afloat and if not better, I don’t know what’s going on with Josh Jacobs, which is a massive question mark as well, that Micah Parsons will be, if he does return healthy, a great mid-season pickup to say the least.”

“Then let’s see what he does,” Eisen added. “And then let’s see what he does the rest of his career, and let’s see how it all plays out.”

In his five years in the NFL, Parsons has yet to record fewer than 12 sacks in a season. With five Pro Bowls and three First-Team All-Pro selections, the pass rusher is widely regarded as one of the most elite defenders in pro football.

He was set to record new highs in multiple stat categories this past season, had it not been for his ACL injury. He recorded 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and 27 quarterback hits in 14 games, logging an 89.5 PFSN EDGE Impact score, which ranked fourth in the league.

Given his tremendous upside, Eisen suggested that fans be patient with the defender’s recovery.

The Packers would very much like to have Parsons back sooner rather than later. There are a tough few matchups awaiting them before their Week 11 bye. Matt LaFleur and company will play the Minnesota Vikings twice, the Chicago Bears, the Detroit Lions, the New England Patriots, and the Cowboys.
