ICYMI: Zvonimir Ivisic dealing with hand injury

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — On Tuesday, the Illini men’s basketball team teamed up with the Kiwanis Club to host a banquet.

While this meant celebrating the start of a new athletics season and making a difference in the Champaign-Urbana community, it also meant that Illini fans would get eyes on some of their favorite players for the first time in a while.

For those of you who consumed any content from the event thanks to outlets like WCIA, you would’ve noticed that center Zvonimir Ivisic had a cast of some sort covering his right hand.

“Z hurt his hand while he was home in Croatia, we’ll reexamine that later in the week,” Underwood said. “He’s not working out right now, so we’ll see what the extent of that is.”

Last season, Ivisic averaged 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, while also playing an integral role in the Illini’s post defense and amassing 72 blocks.

He’s an important piece that Illinois certainly wants at full strength by the time the season rolls around in early November, something that looks like a likely scenario.
