I tried and ranked every shake at Shake Shack, including the Dubai Chocolate. A classic earned the No. 1 spot.

• Over the past year, I’ve tried and ranked 17 of Shake Shack’s shakes.
• A late-summer addition was announced in August: a cookie-butter tiramisu shake.
• I earned the No. 2 spot in my ranking, behind a classic.

Simply put, this tasted like a frozen cup of coffee. If that sounds appealing to you, I’d recommend.

In fourth place came the limited-edition Sticky Toffee Pudding flavor.

This shake, another holiday flavor, had 930 calories and cost $6.99.

It’s made with a vanilla custard base, a piece of sticky toffee pudding cake, and caramelized brown sugar blended together, topped with whipped cream and a toffee pudding sauce.

This was delicious.

Of the three holiday flavors, I have the least experience with sticky toffee pudding, a British dessert. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t enjoy it, but my fears quickly vanished after the first sip.

To me, the molasses flavoring was like a gingerbread cookie, making it the perfect holiday treat. I also liked that I could feel the little pieces of cake mixed in, adding a textural dimension that some of the other shakes didn’t have.

In third place: the black-and-white shake.

This is vanilla custard mixed with chocolate fudge sauce.

It has 770 calories and costs $6.49.

This tasted like vanilla with a hint of chocolate, in a good way.

Full disclosure: Before doing this ranking, I thought that a black-and-white shake was just chocolate and vanilla mixed together. But no! It’s a vanilla shake mixed with chocolate sauce. I much preferred this.

It had more of a taste than a plain vanilla shake, but it didn’t have the watered-down quality of the vanilla-and-chocolate shake, which was overwhelmed by chocolate. This tasted like a hot fudge sundae.

I highly recommend.

In second place is the Biscoff Cookie Butter Tiramisu Shake.

In August, Shake Shack debuted its latest custard creation: the Biscoff Cookie Butter Tiramisu shake. It contains tiramisu custard mixed with Biscoff cookie butter and Biscoff cookie crumbs. It’s topped with whipped cream and even more of the cookie crumbs.

It’s 1,140 calories and costs $7.49.

I downed around half of it in 5 minutes. It was worth the brain freeze.

As a huge fan of cookie butter and tiramisu, I had high hopes I would like this shake, and my expectations were exceeded.

I took a sip and actually gasped in delight. I loved the subtle hint of coffee in the tiramisu custard, and the chunks of Biscoff cookies were perfect for adding a little texture. I also enjoyed the crumbles on top, which added a mouth-watering aroma to the shake.

Sometimes, even if it’s a shake I enjoy, I can’t drink it too fast. Not so here: This shake didn’t feel too heavy, or too sweet, so I was able to take huge sips. It also paired well with fries, which I dunked in the shake for a salty/sweet combo.

I hope this sticks around for a while.

And in first place — certainly not to my own surprise — was the cookies-and-cream shake.

The cookies-and-cream shake ($6.49 and 850 calories) is made with vanilla custard and spun with “chocolate cookie crumbles.”

This was, to put it plainly, so good.

In almost any scenario, I am ordering a cookies-and-cream shake. It’s been my go-to for years … but that just means that the Shake Shack shake had to live up to my high standards. And it did.

This tasted like drinking a mashed-up Oreo, which is all I ever want from a cookies-and-cream shake. It was creamy, not too sweet, and the texture of the cookie crumbles wasn’t off-putting in any way. It had just the right amount of crumbs.

I’d be fine with getting any of the top eight shakes, but cookies and cream will forever be my No. 1 choice.
