After spending a lot of last season brushing against the relegation zone and flirting with disaster, Tottenham’s 2026-27 campaign hasn’t gotten off to much of a better start, as Spurs sit 17th on the table with just two points through four matches courtesy of two draws and two defeats. The club is the only one in the entire Premier League that has yet to score a goal all season. Tottenham sits just one point clear of the relegation zone in this early stage of the campaign.
Most recently, Tottenham faced off against rival Liverpool in an EFL Cup third-round matchup. The good news for Tottenham was that Spurs finally scored a goal, a 69th-minute score by Conor Gallagher. The bad news for the club was that the goal came when it was already down 2-1 in the match. Ultimately, Tottenham lost once again, falling 3-1 to Liverpool.
Tottenham takes on an Aston Villa club that has somehow fared even worse than Spurs this season. Aston Villa sits 19th out of the 20 Premier League clubs on the table with just one point through four matches. Villa has won two of its last three matches, however, defeating Club Brugge 3-2 in Champions League action before taking down Coventry 3-1 in the third round of the EFL Cup.
