Louisiana Christian enters the year coming off a share of the 2025 Sooner Athletic Conference championship, its second conference title in three seasons. The NAIA Wildcats received votes in the final 2025 NAIA Top 25 Coaches Poll and will immediately step up in competition against an NCAA Division I opponent. This is the first of two Division I road games on Louisiana Christian’s schedule, with a trip to Southern coming in September.
Northwestern State, an FCS program from the Southland Conference, will open at home on a Thursday night for the second consecutive season. Head coach Blaine McCorkle has called Louisiana Christian a strong regional opponent, pointing to the Wildcats’ recent conference success as one reason the opener should provide an early test for the Demons. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:00 PM ET on Thursday, August 27, from Turpin Stadium, with the game streaming on ESPN+.
