After a Week 7 bye, well-rested No. 14 Iowa (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) travels to Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minn., to take on Big Ten rival Minnesota (5-1, 2-1 Big Ten) for the right to claim the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy.
While the Hawkeyes were idle this past weekend, they come into this matchup with a tremendous amount of momentum after thrashing Washington, 41-24, on Oct. 9. During that win, running back Kamari Moulton posted 208 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries, while quarterback Jeremy Hecklinski completed 14 of 19 passes for 202 yards and three touchdowns in his first collegiate start.
Minnesota is coming off an ugly 41-13 loss at Purdue last weekend, but has shown it can compete with high-quality opponents, with wins over Washington and Michigan already on its record. Quarterback Drake Lindsey is arguably the Golden Gophers‘ best offensive weapon so far this season, throwing for 1,335 yards, nine touchdowns, and five interceptions on a 64.8% completion rate.
Saturday will be the 120th all-time meeting between Iowa and Minnesota, with the Golden Gophers leading the series, 63-54-2. Conversely, Iowa leads the series against Minnesota, with the Floyd of Rosedale on the line, 46-43-2, and has won 20 of the last 25 meetings.
