Seattle evened the series Saturday with an emphatic 10-5 victory, improving to 58-66 after dropping Friday’s opener. Emerson Hancock delivered seven strong innings, while Cole Young went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and a three-run homer. Brendan Donovan added three hits and three RBIs as the Mariners produced one of their best offensive performances of the month.
Houston enters the finale at 63-61 and will try to bounce back after a difficult night for its pitching staff. The Astros remain ahead of Seattle in the AL West, making Sunday’s nationally televised matchup particularly important for a Mariners team trying to gain ground in the division race. With the series tied at one game apiece, the finale gives Seattle an opportunity to leave Houston with a valuable road series win.
