Despite being the one House that Harry did not want to be placed in, some of the most iconic Harry Potter characters have come from Slytherin. It may be known for its influx of Death Eaters and, of course, Lord Voldemort himself, but there is no denying that the House is well, kind of cool, thanks to its green and black theme, snake imagery, and its common room situated in Hogwarts’ dungeons.
In 2023’s Hogwarts Legacy, players are able to visit this very common room, either as a Slytherin student or by doing a bit of pesky map glitching if they are a member of a different House. With a secret chest hidden behind Salazar Slytherin’s statue, and a Giant Squid Easter egg in the common room, it is a place that players will want to hang out in their playthrough of the hit Harry Potter RPG.
However, thanks to one fan, there is now a way to embody a Slytherin student more than ever, and it comes courtesy of the Sword of Slytherin mod over on Curse Forge.
Available to download for free, the mod is simple, yet highly effective, as it allows players to transform their wand into the Sword of Slytherin. Much like the wand, you will be able to cast spells from it, but there is no denying that it will look a lot cooler when taking advantage of Hogwarts Legacy‘s photo mode. As the official mod description asks, “The Sword of Slytherin answers only to the worthy. Are you?”
Created by user arbek, this Hogwarts Legacy mod puts a unique spin on the Sword of Gryffindor which plays a key role in the Harry Potter series, and will be perfect for those who decide to experience the RPG as a Slytherin student. As a thousand-year-old, goblin-made magical sword, the Sword of Gryffindor was owned by the founder of Gryffindor House, Godric Gryffindor, and during the events of the book and movie series, it is used to destroy horcruxes created by Voldemort.
So, it may not be canonically accurate, but with over 31,000 downloads under its belt, it is clear that fans do not care much about this creative liberty. Not only that, but Sword of Slytherin is not the only Hogwarts Legacy mod worth mentioning, as modder arbek also has one dedicated to the aforementioned Sword of Gryffindor.
It may have been almost four years since the launch of Hogwarts Legacy, but thanks to its dedicated fanbase, the game is still alive and well, with mods offering hundreds of hours of content at absolutely no cost. With the Harry Potter RPG being the best-selling game of 2023, it is no wonder that our very own William Cennamo awarded it a 9/10, with his review reading:
