A week after surrendering 648 yards of total offense in a 41-26 season-opening loss to Mountain Ridge, Skyridge flexed its defensive muscles on Saturday against Orem, rallying in the second half for a 21-14 victory.

The Falcons trailed 14-7 after three quarters, but quarterback Jagger Fountaine engineered a pair of scoring drives to help his team even its record up at 1-1 this season.

Fountaine connected with Omarian Sanders on a 43-yard TD pass at the 9:17 mark of the fourth quarter, tying the game at 14-14. After a defensive stop, Skyridge’s offense marched quickly again, with Beckham Bennett scoring the game-winning TD on a 4-yard run with 3:35 remaining.

The game was originally scheduled for Friday night but was moved back to Saturday to give Orem more time to prepare after traveling back from Hawaii after its Week 1 game at Kamehameha High.

Skyridge struck first midway through the first quarter, with Fountaine tossing a 6-yard TD pass to Ethan Schriever.

Orem tied things up 7-7 late in the first half on a Tanner Lewis 27-yard touchdown strike to Po Faumui.

After a lengthy lightning delay during halftime, Orem’s defense got on the scoreboard with Kaio Akana returning an interception 30-yard for a touchdown as the Tigers took a 14-7 lead into the fourth quarter.
