The two clubs have been in constant contact since Tuesday, and they were able to reach a swift agreement, with the player also pushing to rejoin his original club. The Italian international has been unsatisfied with his playing time since joining the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2023, especially last season under Cristian Chivu, when he fell further down the pecking order.

Inter have thus agreed to send the 26-year-old on loan to Lazio for €1 million with an option to buy for another €14 million. Sources believe the purchase clause will become an obligation if the conditions were met: Frattesi reaching a certain threshold in terms of appearances, and the Biancocelesti finishing in the top half of the Serie A table. The Italian champions will also retain a 50% sell-on fee.

On Thursday afternoon, Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed the operation with his trademark ‘here we go’, signalling that the dynamic midfielder’s return to Rome is now imminent.

Sky Sport Italia correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio adds that Frattesi is expected in the Italian capital on Friday to undergo his medical. If everything goes according to plan, he would sign for Lazio later in the day and join Gennaro Gattuso’s ranks.
Will Frattesi Make His Lazio Debut on Sunday?
It remains to be seen if the former Sassuolo player will be added to the matchday squad for Lazio’s first official game of the season on Sunday. Gennaro Gattuso’s men will host Mantova at the Stadio Olimpico in the opening round of the Coppa Italia.
