Barcelona’s relationship with Goldman Sachs remains strong despite delays to the Espai Barça project, with the financial giant now set to provide a further €300 million to help complete the redevelopment of Spotify Camp Nou.
According to SPORT, the latest agreement is a sign of the confidence between the two parties after Goldman Sachs initially helped Barcelona bring together investors to finance the €1.5 billion cost of the wider Espai Barça project.
The stadium redevelopment has fallen behind some of its original deadlines, but that has not damaged the relationship between the club and its financial partners.
Instead, Barcelona have been able to renegotiate several key delivery dates without major complications.

When the financing agreement was originally established, a series of “milestones” were included.
These targets were designed to benefit both Barcelona and the investors, with the completion of different areas linked to the income-generating potential of the revamped stadium.

Some of those deadlines have been affected by the construction delays, including the new Barça Botiga.
The club had originally expected the store to open in September, but that deadline has now been pushed back.
Following negotiations with the investors, the opening is now scheduled for the final days of October.
The store will be housed inside one of the new structures around Spotify Camp Nou known as the “diamonds”, positioned on the esplanade leading towards the grandstand.
Its location should make it one of the most visible commercial areas for supporters visiting the stadium, whether for matches or as part of the wider Espai Barça experience.

The other major deadline concerns the stadium’s new VIP offering.
Under the revised agreement with Goldman Sachs, 75% of the roughly 9,400 VIP seats must be operational by March.
Some of those spaces are expected to become available as early as October, with the remaining sections following as construction progresses.
The VIP areas sit between the second and third tiers, forming a dedicated ring inside the renovated stadium.
Once fully operational, they are expected to become an important new revenue stream for Barcelona and the investors involved in the project.
