Oliver Glasner has been stunned by some of the fees clubs are spending on players this transfer window, as he reiterated Nottingham Forest’s lofty ambitions.
Forest continued their pre-season preparations with a 3-0 win over Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday in Portugal.
Glasner’s team won via goals from Igor Jesus, Arnaud Kalimuendo and Taiwo Awoniyi.
While Glasner is focused on preparing his new side for the 2026-27 Premier League campaign, Forest are seemingly closing in on two new signings.
Xaver Schlager is expected to join as a free agent, while Forest are reportedly in talks with Sporting CP over centre-back Ousmane Diomande, who could cost £34m (€40m).

Forest sold Elliot Anderson to Manchester City for £116m earlier in the window, and while the club want to be ambitious in the market, Glasner feels some transfer fees are becoming “crazy”.
“As soon as the ink is dry [on any deal], we will let you know,” Glasner told reporters.
“Right now, we are working with the players who are here. The transfer window is open for many more weeks, so many things can happen.
“I don’t want to talk about what we are discussing internally. I already think the prices are a little bit crazy sometimes, and it makes it even more expensive if you talk about names or positions.
“We have a great scouting department, and we talk about profiles that could help and that we probably don’t have in the formation.
“If it’s possible to add it, if we find it and it makes sense to do it, then we will try to finalise it. We are all very ambitious. We will see.”
Anderson’s sale to Man City marked a British transfer record, but that fee has already been surpassed by Chelsea paying £117m to sign Morgan Rogers from Aston Villa.
Tottenham, meanwhile, have paid £85m and £92m (rising to £100m), to sign Mateus Fernandes and Sandro Tonali, respectively.
