Heading into Week 1, New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers remained coy about whether he would suit up against the Dallas Cowboys. He ended up playing, much to the delight of the home crowd at MetLife Stadium.
Nabers helped the Giants beat the Cowboys, 28-20, and give New York coach John Harbaugh his first win with his new squad. Nabers logged six receptions for 69 yards.
The third-year pass-catcher was coming off an ACL injury, which limited him to only four games last season. He said he made the call to suit up just a few minutes before kickoff.

“I decided really on warmups. I was just out there. I felt really good. When I was running around, I felt like I was catching really well. I stretched and did my warmups pretty well. I just felt like it was time to go,” said Nabers in the video posted by SNY.
He also acknowledged the warm reception by the home crowd.
“It was amazing to take it all in and get right back on track to where I left off. I’m happy that fans still love to see me out there,” added the one-time Pro Bowler.
“I felt really good… I just felt like it was time to go.”

He is still trying to regain his old form, but being able to perform competitively was a good sign. He will remain a primary target for Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart, who was terrific against the Cowboys after throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns.
Nabers was thoroughly impressed with Dart.
“Just seeing his arm talent, just seeing how he takes over the game—using his legs, making the right decisions, knowing the coverages. He was not backing down. He was not going to lose, and I was right behind him,” said Nabers in a report from the Associated Press.
The Giants will visit the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2.
