San Francisco Giants center fielder Harrison Bader will miss the rest of the season after he suffered a “major injury” in a scooter accident.

The Giants put Bader, 32, on their injury report list on Tuesday, July 28, citing that he “had a scooter accident on Saturday night/early Sunday morning and further injured” his left foot, which he had been seeking special treatment on for left plantar fasciitis prior to the scooter accident.

Bader traveled on Monday, July 27 to Indianapolis, where he met with a foot and ankle specialist, but the team said the meeting “was complicated” by the injuries he sustained in the scooter accident. “Bader returned to San Francisco on Monday and was examined by Dr. Akizuki,” the team said, adding Bader was scheduled to undergo an MRI to assess the injuries from the scooter accident.

Giants general manager Tony Vitello confirmed on Thursday, July 30 that Bader will not return this season, according to NBC Sports’ Alex Pavlovic.

According to SFist, the scooter incident occurred just before 2 a.m. on Sunday near Greenwich and Fillmore in San Francisco. A source told the outlet Bader was riding a scooter before the MLB star reportedly crashed into a fire engine.

One of the engine’s wheels allegedly rolled over Bader’s foot, which led to the “major injury,” per SFist.

The incident was reported on the Citizen app, citing a person “needing assistance,” according to SFist. The outlet confirmed with the San Francisco Police Department that officers “observed the individual from the scooter receiving medical assistance.”

Bader missed time with the Giants due to left foot discomfort beginning in late May.

He began the 2025 season with the Minnesota Twins before being traded to the Philadelphia Phillies.
