Ghosts’ Major New Character Reset Is A Complete Woodstone Game-Changer In Season 6

Warning: SPOILERS for the Ghosts two-parter “Halloween 6: The Mirror” are ahead!EXCLUSIVE: Ghosts‘ newest Halloween episodes delivered a massive Pete twist that will reverberate through season 6.

After completely disappearing in the Ghosts season 5 finale, Richie Moriarty’s Pete Marinto has returned, albeit with a significant complication. Despite the other Woodstone ghosts not going through with the Halloween séance to bring Pete back, Moriarty’s character nonetheless popped back up at the end of “Halloween 6: The Mirror,” a.k.a. the first two episodes of Ghosts season 6. However, he now lacks any of his post-life memories.

In an interview with ScreenRant‘s Adam Holmes, Asher Grodman, who plays Trevor Lefkowitz, stated that Pete’s memory loss will be explored throughout Ghosts season 6 rather than quickly resolved. Noting how the relationships between the Woodstone ghosts are “the motor of the show,” that’s been disrupted because Pete “has no concept of what’s been lost because he’s just grappling with the life that he remembers, and the life that we’re telling him he had in his post-life life.” Grodman continued about this “void”:

Look, we’re a comedy, so we’re going to make some jokes and do stuff like that. And it’s a sitcom, so not that there’s a refresh every episode, but every episode stands on its own. But there is this theme of who is this guy now, and what has been lost that kind of runs through a lot of these storylines. I always imagine for Trevor that … in my mind, when Trevor showed up, he was probably a lot to handle because he comes from a very different world than most of these ghosts came from. Just a world of immense privilege, and he got everything he wanted in life, except to have a longer life.

So I always imagined that Trevor was pretty toxic when he first showed up at Woodstone, and that Pete was kind of the one who extended the olive branch and brought Trevor in. So for me, there’s a really rich history there and of what has been lost because [Pete] was like my guide. So we’re still filming and still playing it all out, but yeah, it’s a real profound change of the dynamic of the house.

Early on in “Halloween 6: The Mirror,” Alberta was eager to do the Halloween séance, but then Sasappis informed her that Pete once told him that if he ever made it to the afterlife, he didn’t want to be brought back. Alberta initially disregarded this information, but she changed her mind after imagining a scenario where Pete returns, only for his face to melt off. Nevertheless, by the end of this Ghosts two-parter, Pete rematerialized, but was panicked by the arrow in his neck and not recognizing anyone.

It’s left unclear at the end of “Halloween 6: The Mirror” if anything specifically triggered Pete’s return, or if this is a byproduct of his ability to leave the Woodstone property, albeit with his body slowly vanishing the longer he’s away. In any case, Pete’s now back in play in Ghosts season 6, but the CBS show will take its time giving him back his memories. As Grodman explained, this will be particularly hard on Trevor considering how Pete helped him out after he died from an accidental, drug-induced heart attack in 2000, sans pants.

Ghosts season 6 will resume with a Christmas special airing Thursday, December 10, on CBS, but it hasn’t been announced yet when the regular rollout of episodes will begin in 2027. The show can be streamed on Paramount+.
