George McCaskey says Bears are "moving forward" with Indiana as a stadium location

Last Thursday, the Bears held a press conference during which their intention to build a new stadium in Indiana was reiterated.

On Saturday, Bears chairman George McCaskey echoed the message during the broadcast of the team’s preseason opener against the Browns.

We’re moving forward in Hammond,” McCaskey said, via Sports Business Journal. “We’ve identified one viable site, the Lost Marsh Golf Course. We’re looking at another site to see if it is viable, the Wolf Lake terminal. We’re doing our due diligence on those sites.”

McCaskey acknowledged that the process is both “time consuming” and “deliberate.”

“It takes a while, and we just need people to be patient,” McCaskey said.

Patience isn’t the issue. It’s confusion. Although the Bears say they want to build in Indiana, efforts continue to find a solution in Illinois.

Indeed, on the same day McCaskey and Bears president and CEO Kevin Warren met with reporters, Commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly met with select Illinois lawmakers.

Eventually, there will be a solution. We think. Until then, the Bears will continue to play at Soldier Field — in downtown Chicago and in the elements, whatever they may be.
