In the double-elimination format, the winner will advance to face of the winner of Oklahoma and No. 7 Alabama next Monday at 6 p.m. Central with the losers facing a difficult path to the finals starting on Monday at 1 p.m. Central.

Georgia (51-12) swept through the Athens Regional before winning two high-scoring games against No. 14 Mississippi State to advance to the program’s seventh College World Series. The Bulldogs won the national title in 1950 and finished as the runner up in 2008.

Texas (45-13) also swept through its regional before winning twice against Oregon over the weekend to advance for its record 39th College World Series. The Horns haven’t taken a national championship back to Austin since winning the program’s sixth national title in 2005.

The two programs met for the first time ever last year in Austin for a high-profile three-game series. Ranked No. 5, Texas swept No. 3 Georgia on its way to the regular-season SEC title.
