FSU softball retains All-American utility player for 2027

FSU softball received a significant boost for its 2027 outlook this week as one of the program’s top players announced her intention to return for another season in Tallahassee. Pitcher Ashtyn Danley revealed her plans to return to Florida State by posting a photo on Instagram accompanied by the caption, “ready for year 4.”

The post confirmed that Danley will be back with the Seminoles for the 2027 season, giving head coach Lonni Alameda one of the nation’s top utility players for another year. Danley was not the only Seminole to reveal plans for another season in garnet and gold. Fellow pitcher Jazzy Francik also recently announced her intention to return to Florida State for the 2027 campaign, giving the Seminoles another experienced arm back in the circle.

Danley’s decision carries added significance because of the production she brought to the circle and at the plate throughout the 2026 season. The right-hander finished the year with a 24-8 record and a 2.32 ERA across 196 innings pitched, striking out 245 batters while helping lead Florida State to an ACC Tournament championship and a Super Regional appearance.

She was just as dangerous at the plate, hitting .353 with 12 home runs, 16 doubles, and 57 RBI. She finished with a .624 slugging percentage and scored 50 runs.

She ranked among the ACC leaders in wins, strikeouts, and innings pitched, routinely taking the ball in the Seminoles’ biggest games. Her combination of durability and swing-and-miss stuff made her one of the conference’s premier pitchers and helped earn her Second Team All-America recognition from D1Softball.

The return of Danley gives FSU a proven arm to build around entering 2027. Combined with a talented returning core and another strong recruiting class, the Seminoles appear well-positioned to remain a factor in both the ACC and national title conversation.

For Florida State fans, Danley’s Instagram post may have been brief, but its significance was clear. One of the program’s most accomplished players is coming back for another season, and expectations in Tallahassee will only grow as a result.
