Four from area named to North Dakota Class B all-state softball team

Jun. 9—GRAND FORKS — Led by Thompson’s three selections, four players from the area were chosen to the North Dakota Class B all-state team, which is voted on by the North Dakota High School Coaches Association.

Thompson’s selections were junior Cindy Eliason, senior Kya Hurst and senior Claire Kolling. Nelson County-Midkota junior Mya Luehring was also selected.

The Tommies finished in fifth place at the state tournament, falling 2-1 to Beulah in the state tournament quarterfinals.

Leading into the state tournament, Eliason was hitting .524 with nine doubles and 38 RBIs. Hurst was hitting .516 with five home runs and 34 RBIs. Kolling was batting .434 with three triples, 31 runs, 19 walks and 10 stolen bases.

Luehring batted .661 with 11 doubles, five triples and a home run. She had 33 RBIs. She also added 88 innings with 80 strikeouts and a 6.31 ERA.
