Former UNC basketball guard heading overseas

With the basketball offseason still rolling on, some former North Carolina players are finding new homes not only in the NBA but around the world.

The latest is former UNC guard and five-star recruit Cole Anthony. On Tuesday night, the NBL announced that Anthony has signed a one-year deal with Melbourne United. The move finishes Melbourne United’s roster for the upcoming season.

Anthony has played six seasons in the NBA, spending the first five years with the Orlando Magic. He spent last season with the Milwaukee Bucks. His 2021-22 season with Orlando saw him average 16.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.7 assists per game.

“I’m super excited to begin this journey with Melbourne United,” Anthony said via the release. “This is a great opportunity to continue growing as a player and compete for a championship.”

“I’m ready to get to work and can’t wait to represent the club and meet the fans!”

The 6-foot-2 guard will add a new dynamic to Melbourne United as thye hope to chase a title under new head coach Jacob Chance.

In his NBA career, Anthony averaged 12 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game, while shooting 34.3% from the three-point line.
