Nottingham Forest have confirmed Vitor Pereira’s departure as head coach.

Reports emerged on Wednesday that Forest had elected to sack Pereira.

That is despite him having guided Forest to Premier League safety last season, having only replaced Sean Dyche in February.

Pereira subsequently confirmed that he had been relieved of his duties, expressing his surprise at the decision in a statement.

And Forest have now made an official announcement, confirming they activated a break clause in the former Wolves coach’s contract.

Nottingham Forest can confirm that Vítor Pereira has left his role as Head Coach following the Club’s decision to exercise a mutual break clause in his contract.

They are expected to hire Oliver Glasner, who is a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace.

Pereira won eight of his 20 games (40%) in charge of Forest and led them to the Europa League semi-finals before losing to eventual champions Aston Villa.

Glasner, meanwhile, won three trophies with Palace – the FA Cup, Community Shield and Conference League.

The Austrian oversaw 121 matches in charge of the Eagles, winning 51 of those (42.2%).

Forest had a busy day on Thursday, as Elliot Anderson’s record-breaking transfer to Manchester City was confirmed.

They then subsequently announced they had activated an extension clause in Matz Sels’ contract.

Sels is now contracted until the end of the 2027-28 season.

The Belgian has featured 96 times for Forest since his arrival in 2024.
