Florida football’s rivalry game against Georgia last Saturday did not go quite as the Gator Nation had hoped, with Jon Sumrall’s squad embarrassing themselves in a 27-8 defeat in Atlanta to give the Bulldogs their sixth-straight win in the cross-border series.
Following Week 9’s college football schedule, CBS Sports writer Chip Patterson published his latest re-rank of all 138 FBS teams, which saw Florida fall six spots to No. 26. The Gators now sit between No. 25 South Carolina and No. 27 Wisconsin.
Compare that with the US LBM Coaches Poll, which dropped the Gators from the top 25 to the de facto No. 27 spot, and the AP Top 25, which has them teetering on the edge at No. 25.
Next up, Florida returns home to host Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 7, inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:45 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.
SEC schools in CBS Sports’ re-rank top 25 after Week 9
With Florida’s descent and South Carolina’s ascent in the standings after Week 9, the SEC still has nine member schools among the CBS Sports re-rank top 25, led by second-ranked Georgia, with Kentucky (No. 8) and Alabama (No. 9) joining them in the top 10. The remaining schools in the top 25 are Texas (No. 11), Ole Miss (No. 12), LSU (No. 14), Tennessee (No. 16), Missouri (No. 19) and South Carolina (No. 25); Florida sits on the outside looking in at No. 26.
