Fire Service rescues man trapped while saving cow in Kano

A 40-year-old man who became trapped inside an old well while trying to rescue his cow has been rescued alive by the Kano State Fire Service in Makoda Local Government Area of the state.

The incident occurred on Wednesday at Sabon Ruwa Village after the man’s five-year-old cow fell into the abandoned well.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Public Relations Officer of the Kano State Fire Service, ACFO Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, said the agency’s Emergency Response Unit at the Danbatta Fire Station received a distress call at about 3:22 p.m.

According to the statement, the distress call was made by Ibrahim Jibrin, who visited the Danbatta Fire Station to alert firefighters about the incident.

The statement said firefighters immediately rushed to the scene, where they discovered that the cow’s owner, identified as Badamasi Ibrahim, had entered the well in an attempt to rescue the animal but became trapped and was unable to climb out.

Despite experiencing breathing difficulties while inside the well, Badamasi and the cow were both rescued alive by the firefighters.

Following the rescue, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Alhaji Sani Anas, warned residents against entering wells to carry out rescue operations.
