As the ninth main installment in the beloved Square Enix franchise, Final Fantasy IX had a lot riding on its shoulders when it launched back in 2000. Arriving on the PlayStation, Final Fantasy IX took players to a world of warring nations as we took on the role of Zidane Tribal, a thief who is tasked with kidnapping the princess Garnet Til Alexandrios XVII by a neighboring nation. However, the situation soon turns around when Zidane, Garnet and a whole host of eccentric characters join together to take down Queen Brahne, the reason behind the war and Garnet’s mother.
Now hailed as one of the greatest video games of all time, Final Fantasy IX received an official remaster back in 2016, welcoming graphical enhancements and added gameplay. Not only that, but with an animated television show inspired by the world currently in development at Cyber Group Studios, it is an exciting time for fans of the beloved Final Fantasy title.
However, celebrations do not end there, as Square Enix has announced yet another upcoming release for Final Fantasy IX, and this time, it will see you spend some time away from the screen and hunched over a table.
That is because FINAL FANTASY IX Jigsaw Puzzle Reclusion is on the way courtesy of the official Square Enix Store. Consisting of 1000 pieces, this jigsaw is set to be released to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy IX, and it is available to pre-order now.
Set to launch some time in July, this will make for the perfect gift for the Final Fantasy lover in your life, and at 1,000 pieces, it is guaranteed to keep them busy for quite some time.
Coming in at H 20.08 in x W 28.94 in (H 51cm x W 73.5cm) and showcasing a beautiful scene from Final Fantasy IX, this brand-new piece of merchandise is a must-have and luckily, it retails at a respectable $39.99.
However, that is not all, as two other jigsaw puzzles inspired by Final Fantasy IX are also available to pre-order: FINAL FANTASY IX Jigsaw Puzzle Denouement and FINAL FANTASY IX Jigsaw Puzzle Integrity. Also consisting of 1,000 pieces each, they too commemorate some of the best moments from the beloved game and will also begin shipping in November 2026.
With an animated television show currently in development, and a fairly recent remaster to get your teeth stuck into, the world of Final Fantasy IX is still alive and well, and shows no signs of losing its popularity any time soon, despite the franchise coming on in leaps and bounds since its original launch.
In other Final Fantasy news, a new card game booster set called Final Fantasy: Memories Of Life officially arrives a little later this month.
