Hailed by many as the best entry in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy VI first burst onto the scene back in 1994 for the SNES. Featuring a cast of fourteen playable characters, it follows them as they rebel against a military dictatorship in a world resembling the era of the Second Industrial Revolution.
Not only that, but Final Fantasy VI is remembered for featuring much darker themes than previous iterations, including such things as chemical warfare, teenage pregnancy, a magical arms race, and more, but with it still being regarded as one of the greatest video games of all time, it is no wonder that it set a precedent for the many entries that would follow over the next four decades.
Despite this, Square Enix has yet to release, or even announce, a full 3D remake of Final Fantasy VI. That being said, it is not all doom and gloom, as the beloved Final Fantasy entry is set to make an exciting return in 2027, albeit not the first way we would have chosen.
To help celebrate 40 years of Final Fantasy, Square Enix has announced the Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary: The Crystal Edition CD and vinyl collection which will feature one song from the soundtrack of each mainline entry in the RPG franchise, which, of course, includes Final Fantasy VI.
Available for pre-order now, those interested can now check out the official website, which reveals that the Final Fantasy 40th Anniversary: The Crystal Edition CD and vinyl collection is set to launch on 6 January 2027. The official description reads as follows:

At the time of writing, only the Japanese listings are live, so we are unsure of the price point for the collections in both Europe and North America. However, in Japan, it will cost 3,600 yen (~$23) for the CD and 8,000 yen (~$51) for the record, which are quite respectable prices.
Not only that, but it makes sense that the vinyl is more expensive, as it will feature two records as opposed to just one CD. That being said, what you are probably most interested in is the track list, which is as follows:
