FG Intensifies Anti-Bullying Campaign, Urges Students to Speak Up

The Federal Government has intensified the implementation of the National Policy on Anti-Bullying as part of efforts to eliminate bullying in schools and ensure every Nigerian child learns in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.

The renewed commitment was reaffirmed during a sensitisation workshop organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), in line with the vision of the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, to strengthen school safety, promote students’ well-being and create secure learning environments across the country.

Speaking at the workshop, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. Aisha Garba, represented by the Deputy Executive Secretary, Hon. Olajuwon Rasaq Akinyemi, urged students to embrace the campaign message, “If you see something, say something,” encouraging victims and witnesses of bullying to report incidents without fear.

According to the Ministry, sustained awareness campaigns and the strengthened implementation of the National Policy on Anti-Bullying have already resulted in a decline in reported bullying cases in schools.

The Federal Government also reiterated its commitment to deepening collaboration with stakeholders, improving reporting mechanisms and ensuring the effective implementation of anti-bullying measures to safeguard learners and promote safe, inclusive and learner-friendly schools nationwide.

The workshop, organised by the Federal Ministry of Education in partnership with UBEC, forms part of ongoing efforts under the Renewed Hope Agenda to foster a safer and more supportive learning environment for all Nigerian students.
