Cunningham described the atmosphere as “absolutely amazing.” She also praised the fans’ passion inside the arena.
“I wanna shout out the Tempo crowd and the city,” Cunningham said. “The crowd was absolutely amazing, and you know, I think that’s what sports is all about. You’re gonna get boos. You’re gonna get cheers, but just the fact that they’re so passionate, they’re loud, and they’re putting on for the city, I think it’s amazing.”
For Cunningham, that passion represents what sports should look like. She also credited the Tempo for creating a strong environment for women’s basketball.
Sophie Cunningham’s stats vs. Tempo

Cunningham surely backed up her words on the court.
She scored 13 points in the win, converting on a perfect 3-for-3 from three-point range. Her shooting helped Indiana secure its 24th win of the season and matched the franchise’s record for most victories.
The 30-year-old guard remains one of WNBA’s most talked-about players. Her physical style continues to turn heads. Recent incidents added to the bright spotlight she’s already on. Cunningham’s comments about transgender athletes’ participation in women’s sports sparked polarizing reactions across the league.
The Missouri product has never shied away from the spotlight. She has always played with an edge, so to drown out the noise and turn it into motivation was just another Tuesday for Cunningham.
