In 2025, tight end Colby Parkinson was the Los Angeles Rams‘ third-leading receiver in total receptions, yards and touchdowns. He was clearly a favorite target of star quarterback Matthew Stafford.
But despite his productive play, Parkinson could be in danger of being cut this offseason.
Colby Parkinson named potential cut candidate for Los Angeles Rams
Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay recently listed five cut candidates across the league’s landscape, and Parkinson made the list. Kay pointed to Los Angeles’ depth at the tight end position combined with the money they could save by cutting Parkinson loose as reasons for his inclusion.
“The Los Angeles Rams packed their tight ends room to capacity this offseason. With several new faces joining an already-crowded group, Colby Parkinson—one of the top veterans from last year’s squad—could be on his way out the door,” Kay wrote.
“Despite this, Parkinson is going into the final year of his contract and has no guaranteed money left on the deal. Cutting him would save a cash-strapped Rams squad $7 million, dollars the club could use to bolster far weaker points of the roster.”
While the Rams do have depth at the TE spot, Parkinson is coming off of his best year as a professional and was a key cog in L.A.’s offense last season. He developed some obvious chemistry with Stafford that they could potentially build on in 2026.
With the Rams going all-in on making another deep playoff run this year, keeping Parkinson around might be in their best interest, even though generating some extra cap space by moving on from him could prove intriguing.
