Fantasy Football Video: Will Jalen Coker be a surprise breakout at wide receiver in 2026?

One name in fantasy football that isn’t being talked about much is Carolina Panthers WR Jalen Coker. That’s mainly because of the team surrounding Coker, but might Carolina be an offense on the rise? The Panthers have a decent young group headlined by QB Bryce Young and WR Tetairoa McMillan. As Coker enters Year 3 in the NFL, it may be time for a breakout campaign.

Here to discuss Coker’s outlook for the 2026 season are new Yahoo analysts Josh Norris and Hayden Winks, celebrating their inaugural show for Yahoo Fantasy. The pair were joined by Yahoo Fantasy Forecast host Matt Harmon to get things started. You can look forward to more content all season long from Josh and Hayden, from the lead up to your draft through the regular season and offseason. Check out their YouTube channel here.

Harmon thinks Coker is a great receiver and it’s just taken him a bit longer to adjust to the NFL game coming from Holy Cross at the collegiate level. Harmon compares Coker’s body type to that of Chris Godwin Jr. or Jakobi Meyers. Two receivers we’ve seen have fantasy football success in the past five years.

Coker has only made it to 11 games in each of his two NFL seasons. Health has been an issue but he’s made strides to get his body right. Last season, Coker had 33 catches for 394 yards and three scores. While the regular season was uninspiring from a fantasy standpoint, the analysts point out the playoff game vs. the Rams. Coker had a 9-134-1 line on 12 targets against Los Angeles in the Panthers’ near upset win.

Many managers likely forgot about that game from Coker.

Harmon points out that reports suggest that McMillan will see more time in the slot after running routes at a 15% clip there in 2025. Carolina is able to do that given Coker can play outside. As a result, Harmon believes Coker is going to get a lot more targets than people think.

Yahoo analyst Justin Boone has Coker ranked as the WR47 in his July update. Coker’s early ADP on Yahoo is at 134.1, the wide receiver being selected between the 11th-12th rounds on average.
