Now that the Cleveland Browns are five games into the season, it is easier to start assessing the state of the team. Head Coach Todd Monken has had five games to show what he brings to the table and what he wants the offense to look like. While it is still early, the team can see what is working and where they want to go for the rest of the season.
The offense has been inconsistent in these first five games, but it is hard to place the blame for all of that on Monken. The players need to execute at the end of the day, and he can only use the players that are in front of him. It is promising that the offense has been able to put together multiple fourth-quarter game-winning drives. This shows that Monken trusts his players and they trust him.
One of the bigger questions left for the Browns offense is whether the run game will ever be able to get going. They will need to have better play from Quinshon Judkins and the offensive line, so it will be important to see how Monken looks to improve on this. He will also need to keep his team dialed in to avoid big mistakes in some important upcoming matchups.
A Week 6 win, no matter who is injured on either side, would place Cleveland in first place in the AFC North. That has to mean something. A loss, on the other hand, would drop them to .500 and potentially drop them into the division’s basement.
Let me know what you think in the comments – How do you feel about Todd Monken 5 games into the season? Will Week 6’s outcome impact that feeling strongly?
