Extraordinary suggestions of kidnapping as Fiorentina sign Christ Oulai

Serie A side Fiorentina had been working on a move for Trabzonspor’s Christ Oulai for many weeks. While the deal has gone through, there have been extraordinary suggestions around the transfer.

La Gazzetta dello Sportshed light on the situation, making it clear that the player will join Fiorentina on a permanent deal. La Viola have agreed to pay around €30 million to seal his signature, but things were far from easy yesterday.

A well-known Turkish journalist reported that the player was almost “kidnapped” for a few minutes. 

According to the Turkish reconstruction, while some Trabzonspor delegates were waiting for the midfielder at Istanbul airport, returning from the Ivory Coast after the World Cup, they were unable to locate and contact him because other people introduced themselves to the player and his father, posing as drivers sent by the club.

The “fake” Trabzonspor employees then convinced him to get into the vehicle to speak to them. This is the version circulating online but in reality, a trusted person of the player was in the other car to check his contract with Fiorentina.

Yesterday, those in Turkey, including Trabzonspor’s vice president, were already considering the deal a done deal for a fee around €30 million.
