After a breakthrough season with Alverca, Bastien Meupiyou (20) is attracting interest from several high-profile clubs, the Portuguese side’s sporting director, Fernando Malta, tells Get French Football News.
“Bastien is a player that now, to be fair, is the most spoken player of our market, 100%. He’s the player that everyone wants to know. When I say everyone, it’s in terms of high-level clubs,” Malta told us. It comes a year after Alverca signed the former FC Nantes centre-back from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The France youth international, nominated for this year’s Golden Boy award, played 32 games in all competitions, leading newly-promoted Alverca to a comfortable mid-table finish.
Speaking to GFFN, Meupiyou also addressed his future. “Like any player, I want to play in the best competitions, play in the best leagues in the world. I just want to keep progressing, keep on this path, and one day, why not play in the best competitions and leagues,” said the Frenchman.
