Evans adds 200m European silver to 100m gold

Angharad Evans added 200m breastroke silver to Sunday’s 100m gold at the European Aquatics Championships.

The 23-year-old finished second behind world record holder Evgeniia Chikunova of Russia at the Paris Aquatic Centre, with Ireland’s Mona McSharry in third.

Evans had been looking to repeat her double victory for Scotland at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

But she had to make do with silver – just as she had a year ago in the European short-course final in Lublin – behind last year’s world silver medallist.

Meanwhile, compatriot Keanna Macinnes finished fifth in the women’s 100m butterfly final won by world silver medallist Roos Vanotterdijk of Belgium.
