Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has apologized to his players after news of his departure broke on Monday night, the UK Sun reports.

Guardiola is expected to leave the Etihad at the end of this current season.

The 55-year-old’s last game in charge of City will be this weekend’s Premier League home clash with Aston Villa.

However, it appears Guardiola wanted to delay the announcement for as long as possible.

It is understood that Guardiola is angry with the leak and had to summon his squad in a late night group call.

During the call, the Spaniard reportedly apologized to the players and confirmed his exit.

The players were in a state of shock, after having been told as recently as Saturday that he would be staying.

City travel to Bournemouth on Tuesday night and if they fail to win, Arsenal would be confirmed champions.
