England’s 2026 FIFA World Cup preparations begin in earnest on Saturday as they face New Zealand in their first of two warm-up friendlies.

Thomas Tuchel’s team take on the lowest-ranked nation at the tournament in Tampa, before they face Costa Rica in another friendly next Wednesday in Orlando. These two games in Florida are their last before they open their Group L campaign against Croatia on June 17.

Tuchel raised some eyebrows with some of his roster choices for the World Cup, but these fixtures are a chance for those players to prove they belong among the elite of the international game — and for the coach himself to demonstrate that he has a plan for winning the trophy.
