On Thursday, Fox News posted a preview of Enes Kanter Freedom’s interview on “My View With Lara Trump,” where he commented on Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham. In this snippet, Freedom praised Cunningham for voicing her opinion that biological men should not compete in women’s sports.

Freedom referenced fan rallies held in cities like Seattle and Minneapolis. With the Fever coming to town for scheduled WNBA games, Cunningham’s supporters staged gatherings to express their support for her stance on transgender athletes in women’s sports.
Though Freedom acknowledged that Cunningham has drawn criticism, he hailed her as a role model for young women.
“Obviously, if you’re standing up for something that you believe, you’re going to get hate all the time. But I think she’s inspiring not only the players in the WNBA, but girls from all over the world.”

Freedom added that he’s been getting messages from people across the globe, asking him to say ‘hi’ to Cunningham on their behalf.
In a media availability back on Aug. 5, Sophie Cunningham called for the media to bring the focus back to basketball when covering the WNBA.
In an exclusive interview published by USA Today on Wednesday, Cunningham opened up about her mindset behind this callout.
“People are like, ‘You have a platform. Use it.’ And then, once you use it, it’s like, ‘Go back to playing basketball.’ I think the reason why I stated that is because you go into media, and it’s not anything even about basketball. I think I could do both. Ask me about what’s going on and what I said. And also ask me how great my teammates are doing, how great our team is doing, how great the league is doing.”
