It might be a long season for Porter Moser in Norman.
Oklahoma fell to East Texas A&M at the Lloyd Noble Center on Monday night to officially kick off the 2026-27 campaign. The Lions actually controlled most of the game, too, and took a 16-point lead just after the break before hanging on to secure the 68-64 upset win.
The Sooners closed as a 28.5-point favorite. The loss, according to ESPN, is the second-largest upset in Division-I history in the past three decades. Eastern Illinois holds the record there after it beat Iowa as a 30.5-point underdog in 2022.
Moser is in his sixth season leading the Sooners this fall. They went 21-16 last season, but missed the NCAA tournament for the fifth time under his watch.
The win for East Texas A&M marked the program’s first over a power conference program in history. The Lions are only in their fifth season of existence, and went 13-20 last season.
