The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced the inactives list for their Week 4 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
The following Eagles players WILL NOT PLAY:Lane Johnson, Fred Johnson, DeVonta Smith, Dallas Goedert, Zack Baun, Marcus Epps, Hollywood Brown, and Cole Payton.
Lane Johnson was unexpectedly ruled questionable due to personal reasons shortly prior to inactives being announced. That’s not good. Hopefully Lane is OK. From a football perspective, this is obviously a big loss; we all know the Eagles are much better with Lane than without him. With both Lane Johnson and Fred Johnson out, rookie Markel Bell will make his first NFL start at right tackle on short notice. Bell showed promise in the offseason and he won’t have to face Myles Garrett, so, that’s good. But it’s still a big test for him. Also, the Eagles have no real tackle depth behind Bell and Jordan Mailata. If one of those becomes unavailable, the Eagles will likely have to kick starting right guard Tyler Steen out to tackle and put Willie Lampkin in Steen’s place. Rookie Micah Morris is the only other backup offensive lineman available for this game.
DeVonta, Goedert, Baun, Epps, and Brown were all ruled out on Friday’s final injury report. The Eagles will be without their top offensive lineman, their top receiver, and their top tight end for this game. Not great!
The Eagles don’t have an emergency third quarterback today. Payton is inactive and Tanner McKee and Andy Dalton are both active. McKee is reportedly overtaking Dalton as QB2. Never made sense to keep Dalton as the backup, let alone on the roster at all.
Zach Ertz and Josiah Deguara are active after being temporarily elevated from the practice squad. The latter is making his Eagles debut.
WR DeVonta Smith – Injury.
LB Zack Baun – Injury.
TE Dallas Goedert – Injury.
S Marcus Epps – Injury.
OT Lane Johnson – Personal reasons.
OT Fred Johnson – Injury.
WR Hollywood Brown – Injury.
QB Cole Payton – Fourth quarterback.
No surprises for the Rams. The most notable development is that top tight end Colby Parkinson is out after being ruled questionable. But he didn’t practice all week, so, it never seemed like he was going to play. And the Rams still have three tight ends on their roster despite Parkinson being out and them putting Terrance Ferguson on injured reserve.
WR C.J. Daniels
QB Ty Simpson (emergency third quarterback)
CB Cam Lampkin
CB Jaylen Watson
OL Bill Murray
TE Colby Parkinson
OT Aaron Donald
