Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green was confronted about LeBron James’ decision to join the Philadelphia 76ers on national TV.
Green played an active role in trying to recruit LeBron to the Warriors, with the pair being seen together in recent weeks. However, the recruiting efforts failed as LeBron went to Philly.
With Golden State’s public pursuit of James collapsing, Green became the butt of a joke on TNT Sports’ Dunkman World Championships broadcast.

Green was joined by NBA legend Dwight Howard and influencer Cash Nasty on a panel hosted by Adam Lefkoe. Cash, a huge LeBron fan, directly addressed James’ refusal to go to the Warriors to Draymond, prompting the 36-year-old forward to respond.
“How is that my loss? It would’ve been nice, but it’s no different than what it’s always been.”
Green declined a nearly $28 million player option to give Golden State the financial room they needed to sign LeBron, but the franchise made absolutely no use of the extra space with James going to Philly.
The Warriors promptly re-signed Green to a one-year deal for exactly the amount he gave up, basically de facto accepting the option he selflessly declined to help the team be competitive.
But with Green on an expiring contract and Jimmy Butler on an expiring contract, it seems the Warriors plan to embrace 2026-27 as a gap year due to injuries, and then make a splash next season with a blank slate next to Curry.
With Curry being extension-eligible this season, if the 38-year-old guard declines to commit his future to Golden State, it will put pressure on the franchise to make a move ASAP.
Green and LeBron might be good personal friends, but the basketball reality for the Warriors is grim for the immediate future.
James has, at max, two more years left in the NBA. It wouldn’t make sense for him to join a franchise so content with making the next season a gap year and then relying on James and Curry alone to keep them competitive.
