It is a quiet weekend in South Florida for the Miami Dolphins. The last weekend before the regular season officially begins on Monday, much of the news and updates have been focused on the start of the college football season and the rest of the sports world. What has been posted about the Dolphins this weekend has primarily focused on predictions about the 2026 season, along with a few stories looking at some of the rookies.
Alain Poupart from Miami Dolphins on SI took the chance to compare the 2026 Dolphins’ roster to the 2025 edition. As Poupart points out, the Dolphins have 35 players on the roster heading into Week 1 who were not active on the Dolphins’ 2025 Week 1 roster – a two-thirds turnover.
Before going into a position-by-position breakdown of the changes in the roster, Poupart writes:
But we have to ask one simple question: Is this roster so much worse than what the Dolphins had heading into what became a highly disappointing 2025 season?
Or is it simply a matter of unknowns throughout the current roster, whether it be how Malik Willis will fare in his first year as a full-time starting quarterback or how well the rookie draft picks can perform right away?
The answer isn’t nearly as obvious as would might expect.
