Dolly Parton was one of country music’s biggest superstars, but she wasn’t always a millionaire.

Parton grew up in Sevierville, Tennessee, where she shared a two-room log cabin with her parents and 11 siblings.

She continued to call Tennessee home as her music career skyrocketed, though she upgraded to a 3,324-square-foot ranch in Brentwood, purchased in 1999.

She shared the home with her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, until his death in March 2025 at the age of 82.

Parton died on Tuesday at the age of 80.

Her many accolades included inductions into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Living Legends Medal from the Library of Congress, the Kennedy Center Honors, a lifetime achievement award from the Recording Academy, and 10 Grammys.

Parton was also a philanthropist who gave away millions to support children’s literacy and public health initiatives.

With ventures like the Dollywood theme park and a line of Duncan Hines cake mixes, Parton’s net worth was an estimated $450 million as of June 2025, Forbes reported.

Here’s how she made and spent her fortune.
