The Chicago Bears locked down a vital part of their offense when they signed right tackle Darnell Wright to a massive contract extension that made him the highest-paid right tackle in the NFL.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that it’s a four-year, $116 million deal with $93 million guaranteed. That’s a $29 million annual average. Wright is now under contract through 2030.
After Chicago confirmed the signing, they shared a video of Wright after signing his extension, and he shared a short but sweet message to Bears fans.
“What’s up Bears fans, it’s Darnell Wright here,” he said. “Excited to get my extension done. Let’s get it. Go Bears!”
Wright, a former 10th overall pick, has emerged as one of the NFL’s best tackles in just three seasons. He’s coming off his best season to date, where he helped anchor an offensive line that paved the way for the league’s third-best rushing attack and allowed the second-fewest sacks, en route to second-team All-Pro honors.
